About the face exercise method

The method of facial exercising dates back to the time when man, in the absence of an alternative, resorted to nature and everything he could get out of it. Chinese and Japanese methods of facial acupressure or the Korean Su-Jok are just some of the ancient methods of natural rejuvenation to which we are increasingly returning today, so facial trainings and massages have become very popular form of care lately.

The human face consists of several layers. In the method of facial exercising we deal with the muscles, especially the muscles of the mimic musculature, i.e. the muscles whose actions lead to facial expressions.

Facial expressions had an evolutionary importance for humans in their interaction with others. Each of our emotions is accompanied by a certain facial expression: we smile when we are happy, we frown when we are worried or angry, we raise our eyebrows when we are surprised, etc.

“Wrinkles should only indicate where smiles have been” or “Age wrinkles the body, quitting wrinkles the soul” are just some of the pro-age quotes I would agree with.

Everything that is the result of emotions is only natural for humans to express through facial expressions, but what is not natural is what comes as a result of our habits and not emotions. We make many bad habits in life; certain facial expressions can become a part of them. Later, after months or years of repetition, these habits leave changes on our face: dynamic wrinkles on the skin, asymmetry, etc.

GETTING RID OF BAD HABITS

Ask yourself: How many times have you raised your eyebrows today? How long have you sat frowning in front of your computer?

If you recognize yourself in the answers to these questions, if you notice that you often make the above expressions, it means that your face was often tense, which was not necessary at all: you raised your eyebrows when you were not surprised, you frowned when you were not angry.

These or similar unconscious facial expressions make us age prematurely. Most dynamic wrinkles on the facial skin, such as horizontal lines on the forehead, vertical lines between the eyebrows, or wrinkles around the eyes, are due to an active muscle shortening and pulling the skin, causing wrinkles. Such long-term activation of the muscles causes them to change their length and shape, which in an esthetic sense means that our skin, following the muscle that is attached to it, remains wrinkled in some areas while it begins to sag in others.

The good news is that habits can be changed and premature aging can be prevented. While this is the most difficult part of the job, it is possible that becoming aware of the facial expressions that cause unsightly signs of aging can lead to their correction.

Recognizing and correcting the habits is an important part of the facial workout method that I have developed after years of studying the anatomy of facial aging, especially the aspect directly related to changes in the length, tone, and functions of facial muscles, and the way we can influence their improvement through a combination of different types of contractions. Facial exercises have proven to be an ideal tool in this regard, as they improve neuromuscular connections. By strengthening neuromuscular connections, we become aware of the facial expressions we create, which means we are able to control facial expressions and influence the way our face ages.
